Hey, there’s no tomorrow Mike Tufano September 3, 2015 Features, Open Mike There’s something great about the start of a new season. It’s that new sensation of not knowing what you’re going. Just a week ago I was recording a podcast about how it was hard to get excited when expectations seemed low. But even as I said it, I knew that by now I’d have the eye of the tiger. We’ve walked the streets of Lockett, Waters, and others for so long, it’s a lot harder where the streets have no name. It’s not that they can’t play… it’s that we haven’t seen it yet. And the unknown of where you’re going can feel like you’re heading off the rails on a crazy train. While a 6 or 7 win season may be a dream for some programs in the state, it’s not what gets me excited. I want more. I want it all. And I want it now. But that was then. Right now we’re just 2 days from kickoff. Forgive me if I can’t hold back. It’s days like these that are like no other. Ertz. Heath. Barnett. Lee. It’s their day to shine now, and it’s a beautiful day. They’re rushing headlong into a new season and no matter how many times we’ve heard the phrase “rebuild,” when the pregame clock hits zero, and we look around, we know right where we are. We’re proud of this house we’ve built… and it hasn’t been torn down. The foundation has been laid already, and rather than rebuilding, this team is adding upon that foundation, and they have one vision for where it’s headed. They may not get there this year… but I’ll never lack for excitement. Because someday soon, it’ll be time to stand up again.
