Fan Frenzy Dara Bitler November 12, 2015 Features, The Wabash Line Have you ever been so fired up during a game that you completely lose your inhibitions? I think we all have. This football season has made me become absolutely nuts. I don’t know if I can really explain it but I’ll try. When you’re faced with a tough season, it seems like there are phases that you go through emotionally. First, the blame game. Then comes anger and frustration. Before you know it, you get sad. And for some, the season is a total loss and giving up seems like the only option. When we lost last week, I felt several of those emotions. It was a game we could’ve won! One thing that really bugged me was the lack of fan support during the entire game. If you read my post game recap, you could probably tell that I was a little frustrated. I know that Thursday night games are tough, I know that sometimes there’s no way to stay an entire game because, well, we all have lives. I think what frustrates me the most is that there’s still plenty of football left to be played and we have several great opportunities to win games and even a chance at getting bowl eligible. While some people left the game for personal reasons, others left the game for fear that we were going to get blown out and they couldn’t stand to see us lose another game. The latter of the two is what makes me sad. If I had the ability to be in the stands at every game, I would be. Instead, I cheer from home. I think what we’re all going through right now is some old-fashioned fan frenzy. We all want to see our team win! We’ve had some great seasons the last few years and this one just hurts like the sound of nails on a chalkboard. You almost want to close your eyes because you know what could happen but somewhere deep down, you still hold onto hope that things could improve. That’s what being a wildcat is about. That hope deep down in your soul. We love our team, we love our university, and we are so darn proud to be Wildcats. As I write this, I continue to run the fight song through my head- Fight, you K-State Wildcats For Alma Mater fight-fight-fight! Glory in the combat For the purple and the white. Faithful to our colors We shall ever be, Fighting ever fighting for a Wildcat victory! Go State! We might be completely riddled with injury this season but I’ve seen so many players step up. They’re fighting but the results aren’t coming. This weekend that could all change! It’s time to turn things around! Cheer from home, cheer from the stands, cheer in your car; I don’t care where you do it, just do it! BRING ON THE CATS!!
