The only thing that changed in my rankings this week was making sure K-State is ahead of Texas. Hey, we earned it. I still see Oklahoma as the best team in the Big 12 with West Virginia as a close 2nd... but not a tremendous separation in 1-4. And come to think of it, that 9-10 separation from the other 8 isn't nearly as big as it used to be, either.
Minor changes this week as Kansas State continued their dominance over Texas. What a defenseless barn-burner between OU and TTU. After that showing it's no wonder the national media doesn't believe Big 12 teams play defense. Oklahoma falls below West Virginia for me because of that very reason. West Virginia may have the best defense in the Big 12 and one of the top offenses. Baylor is undefeated, but OSU, ISU and KU aren't exactly murderer's row and up next for them is Texas. TCU is 2-2, but their two wins are ISU and KU. In summary, the jumbled mess of mediocrity is shaking down to a 2-team race between OU and WVU. Did you know? Patrick Mahomes II threw for 230 more yards against Oklahoma than he did against K-State. The most K-State has passed for in a single game is 243 (Stanford)
This week, WVU and Baylor flipped positions for me. Baylor dropping mostly due to bye week, and WVU jumping to the top of my rankings based on a solid win over TCU. That same loss for the Horned Frogs, paired with a Wildcat victory, has the Wildcats leap frogging TCU (pun intended) for me. If the Cats can get a road win this week, they can continue to climb back toward the top of the Big 12.
