Well, I joined the crowd from last week and have placed Baylor at number 1 in my poll. TCU has now twice allowed a huge chunk of points, but to their credit they remain undefeated. Okie State continues to skate by somehow. K-State is at number 8 in my poll this week. I few plays go differently the past two weeks and they could easily by my number 2 or 3. It'll be interesting to see how this season shakes out for both the Cats and the rest of the Big 12. Also, ku is pretty much the worst team I've ever seen at any level.
Baylor is still number 1 for me. I just feel like TCU is more beatable. Oklahoma State is probably the most undeserving #3 ranking I've ever given. They're just not impressive. Oklahoma had their obligatory dog of a game on Saturday. Usually it doesn't happen against Texas. West Virginia might be the best 0-2 in the conference. Although K-State will challenge that title. Texas is still #7 for me. Their offense is too one dimensional (all running). Tech is also one dimensional (all offense, no defense). Iowa State and Kansas are just awful.
A rankings shake up! OU's loss to Texas knocked them out of the top 3. TCU is back to the #1 spot for now, but they're essentially interchangeable with Baylor. But Baylor's (relatively) close game against KU means they drop to my #2 for this week. OSU takes advantage of the Oklahoma loss to get into the Top 3. Texas is still just 7, but that says more about the top half of the Big 12 than it does about them right now. This was the Texas team I believe they can be. So are we now more worried about Oklahoma at home this week or at Texas the next?
What a week in the Big 12! Texas upsets rival Oklahoma. Oklahoma State outlasts West Virginia in OT. Tech slaps around Iowa State. The comeback by TCU in Manhattan. Somehow Baylor is awarded a win during it's bye week. So what do you make of this jumbled mess? I think there are solid 9 and 10 teams and the others could play Paper, Rock, Scissors for rankings and you could argue it's accurate. One more week will hopefully make it a little more clear.
