The Wabash Line: Beat Auburn Dara Bitler September 17, 2014 Features, The Wabash Line Wednesdays at The Salute I don’t know about you, but all I can seem to think about this week is the Auburn game. The anticipation is slowly killing me. I can’t remember a regular-season, college football game that I’ve been more excited about. Outsiders that aren’t K-State fan-specific are excited for this game. There have even been over 400 game credentials given to media. This is huge! There’s an unbelievable amount of hype that surrounds this game. As usual, K-State is going in as the underdog. But honestly, who cares about being the team that isn’t supposed to win. We are the Kansas State University Wildcats. Any team can win on any given night. I have a big feeling that we will come away with a win. There is nothing more intimidating than coming into a Bill Snyder Family Stadium that is packed with fans that can’t stand the SEC, that have more passion for their team than any fan base I’ve seen in my life. If you’re going to be in Manhattan on Thursday night, you better prepare to cheer your heart out! The crowd will be an enormous part of this game. Unfortunately, I won’t physically be in the crowd, but I will be in a house packed full of K-State fans in Wichita. If you can remember back to last season when Auburn took its first road trip of the year to LSU. Their worst nightmare became reality when they lost 35-21. In a similar match-up, Auburn was ranked #21 and LSU was ranked #6. I’m so sick of K-State being the team that gets no recognition. It is time that we go out, prove ourselves, and earn some recognition. Thursday will be the perfect opportunity for us to do just that. It will be an emotional night in the bright lights of a national spotlight. Being in Manhattan after that type of win will be something to remember for the rest of your life. I remember the night we beat Xavier in basketball after 2 overtime to get to the Elite 8 in 2010. It was one of the most amazing nights of my life. Car horns blasting, fireworks going off, cheers from every dorm, apartment complex, and house in Manhattan. I even remember jumping up and down, cheering as loud as I could in Aggieville. It was AWESOME. We can BEAT AUBURN. This K-State Football team is special. The fans will be absolutely electric come game time. Let’s show Auburn why we call our stadium BILL SNYDER FAMILY STADIUM. We Are K-STATE! BRING ON THE CATS!!!!
