Tuesdays on The Salute

Time for a trip down memory lane. Do you remember your 5th grade math textbook? Hopefully, you’re old enough to have had textbooks in grade school. I remember being assigned questions 1-30 to complete before the next day. It sucked. We all just wanted to answers so we could be done with it. Then someone discovered the answers to all the odd-numbered questions were in the back of textbook. It wasn’t all of the answers but it was half of them. It was pretty exciting.

Like that 5th grade math assignment, we all want answers to the questions that have been swirling all off-season about the K-State football team. This Saturday against Stephen F. Austin we will get some of the answers but not all of them. Just like that stupid math textbook.

If you listened to episode 131, Mike and I attempted to work through many of the questions. I think the simple ones will get answered. We’ll figure out who earned starting spots on the he offensive line. We’ll see who is going to get the majority of the touches at running back. All the defensive starting spots will be filled, too. Same for special teams players, too. Assuming the Wildcats crush the Lumberjacks, we’ll even figure out who has grabbed hold of the backup quarterback position.

Sadly, I doubt we’ll get much more than that on Saturday. The Lumberjacks were awful last year. They gave up more the 50 points in 7 of their 9 losses last year. They gave up over 60 in 3 of them, including 69 to McNeese State! Even if Charles Jones or Jarvis Leverett goes for 150 yards, we won’t know if they are going to be great or if Stephen F. Austin is just awful again.

So on Saturday we will get some answers, just like that 5th grade math textbook. However, watching the guys in purple roll up another Wildcat victory will be way more fun than any math assignment ever.

Go Cats!
